James G. Blase is a Principal at Blase & Associates LLC, a law firm in St. Louis, Missouri. The firm focuses on tax, estate and business succession planning, including preparation of wills and trusts, healthcare directives, and asset protection planning.

Prior to joining Blase & Associates in 1999, Jim was Partner and chair of the Trusts and Estates department at the Armstrong Teasdale LLP law firm, St. Louis, Missouri; and prior to that, he was an Associate and partner in the Estate Planning and Administration department at the Thompson Coburn law firm in St. Louis, Missouri.

Jim received his B.S.B.A. cum laude from John Carroll University, his J.D. cum laude from Notre Dame Law School, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University Graduate School of Law. Jim has authored and co-authored articles that have appeared in numerous publications, including Advisor Today, Trusts & Estates, Wealth Counsel Quarterly, and the Journal of Estate and Tax Planning. He is also the author of the 2017 book Optimum Estate Planning.

Jim is admitted to practice in Missouri and Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant in Missouri. He has earned a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Attorney Rating, and was the 2014 recipient of Trusts & Estates magazine’s Wealth Advisor With Heart Award.
