How do I start the application process?

How long will it take to complete the online MBA?

The online MBA can be completed in six semesters (two years). Students follow a prescribed matriculation path in order to complete the degree in this timeframe.

What is the difference between the online MBA and the campus-based MBA program?

The online MBA offers the same curriculum, is taught by the same faculty and has the same admissions standards as the campus-based program. The only difference between the online MBA and the campus-based MBA program is in the delivery mode. Students will now have the option to complete the Villanova MBA in one of three program tracks —€“ the Fast Track, the Flex Track or the Online Track.

Is the online MBA as rigorous as the campus-based MBA program?

Yes. The online MBA offers the same curriculum, is taught by the same faculty and has the same admissions standards as the campus-based program. Online courses are developed by faculty with the support of expert instructional designers, employing a variety of tools such as videos, discussion boards and interactive case studies to meet the learning objectives outlined by each faculty member. Ample synchronous elements are also included.

Is the Online MBA accredited?

All programs offered by the Villanova School of Business are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the professional accrediting body for business schools.

Can campus-based MBA students transfer into the online MBA program?

Yes, provided that they are in good academic standing and live more than 100 miles from the Villanova campus or are deployed on a military assignment. Other extraordinary circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Eligible applicants must complete a transfer request form. Upon transfer, students will pay the online program track per credit rate.

Curriculum/Course Requirements

Does the online MBA have any residency requirements?

Yes. Individuals in the online MBA will be required to travel to campus for the weekend Leadership Challenge class within the first two semesters of the program. In addition, students are strongly encouraged to participate in a seven-day international immersion as part of the final capstone, the Global Practicum. Onsite expenses in-country are included in the tuition. Those who are not able to travel will complete a domestic equivalent of this course.

How many credits do I need to complete to receive my MBA?

To fulfill the requirements of the MBA curriculum, students must complete 48 credits.

Is it possible to transfer credits from another MBA program?

You may transfer up to 9 credits from another AACSB accredited MBA program to satisfy relevant requirements. Prior approval is necessary.

Can any courses be waived?

No, courses can't be waived based on undergraduate coursework.

Can students in the online MBA pursue a specialization?

Yes. Online MBA students may specialize in Finance, Marketing, Strategic Management or Analytics. Students are required to complete 7.5 elective credits in the respective area in order to earn a specialization. To accommodate these specializations, elective options in the online MBA may differ from those offered in the campus-based program.

Are all students required to select a specialization?

No, students may select electives from any business discipline and receive a general MBA.

Is it possible to take Villanova School of Business MBA classes prior to being admitted to the program?

No, you must be accepted to the program in order to take any classes in the program.

Class Schedule

How is the online MBA structured?

The Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in duration (14 weeks in the Summer), and each semester is broken into two terms. Most courses will be offered in one term, with the exception of the Social Enterprise Consulting Practicum, the Global Practicum and Global Strategic Management.

How are the online courses delivered?

The Online Track is designed to provide flexibility to busy working professionals while letting students stay fully engaged with faculty and their classmates. Classes are primarily delivered in an asynchronous environment using a combination of tools such as recorded presentations, discussion forums, and interactive case studies to let students learn according to their own schedule. However, select synchronous elements including online discussion sessions (all recorded so students can review them on their own schedule) and virtual office hours are also incorporated into each course.

Application Process

When is the application deadline?

The application deadline for Spring 2018 is December 1. All application documents must be received by the deadline.

What must be provided to the Office of Graduate Business Programs for an application to be reviewed?

The following must be received by the application deadline: application form and essays; application fee ($65); official transcripts from each institution attended; GMAT or GRE score report; TOEFL (for international students); and recommendations.

What are the main criteria for admission?

The main criteria for admission include: undergraduate GPA; GMAT or GRE score; work experience; TOEFL (for international students); essays; and recommendations.

Fees and Financial Aid

What is the cost of tuition?

Cost Per Credit: $1,350 Total Tuition: $64,800 for the 2017-2018 academic year.  
Tuition includes onsite accommodations for the Leadership Challenge weekend residency and the international immersion. Students are responsible for their travel expenses. Financial aid is available. Information regarding financial assistance available to graduate students may be obtained from the Villanova University Office of Financial Assistance.
